12. Amsterdam sign
It’s a beautiful area to have a walk and take photos with the Amsterdam sign. The time we headed there was around 8pm. It was an hour before sunset, so there was still the sun light. [This is in the month of May ;)] At that hour, the place was not that busy with people so one can easily have a photo with fewer crowds.
11. Park Frankendael
This park is around 20 minutes away to the East from the centre. It is a historical garden with its style of greenery and landscape. We strolled in through the paths surrounded with water, trees and flowers. There are also good restaurants: such as ‘De Kas’. A greenhouse, which grows its organic vegetables to serve on their plate. Park Frankendael is worth seeing and relaxing.
10. Westerpark
Westerpark is nice place where one can walk, cycle and have a picnic with friends. There is also a selection of cafes, restaurant and bars.
9. Madame tussauds
Another attraction where one can be entertained with the stars, not real though haha. They look real; they are all made from wax. The details are very fascinated. Here you can take picture with your favourite celebrity. One can also dress up to take pictures with some celebrities, make videos, sing and be a DJ.
8. Dam Square
It is five minutes walk from the Central station. Dam Square, which is always packed with locals, and tourist, with street actors and entertainers takes place. It has a lot of shops and attractions around too. One also can sit down and enjoy the square.
7. Red light Secrets
Red light secrets is an attraction where one can discover the secrets of the Amsterdam Red light District. It is a museum of prostitution that takes the behind the scenes of the profession and the experience of how it feels to sit ‘in the window’.
6. Vondelpark
Vondelpark is the largest city park in Amsterdam, with beautiful scenery of lake, rivers, trees and much more to see. A place where one can go round with the bike, have a walk, sit and relax. There are different cafeterias where one can grab a drink or eat a snack.
5. The Dungeons
Amsterdam Dungeons is a place where one can be entertained by the performance. The attraction is a horror theater show. Walking through the Dungeon, attentive to the show accompanied with sound and light effects and having the actors thrilling you. The historical scenes are marvelous. They keep you engaged with the performance throughout.
4. Cheese Museum
Entering in the shop, one can see a lot of different types of cheese. The aroma of cheese is very pleasant. One can also do the tasting of the cheeses. They vary from mild, strong and light intensity. Every cheese has its different flavor. How one can like or not like that much the taste and the flavor, it all depends on your personal tastes.
One can also see more about the cheese in the small inspiring museum they have. This museum is free, so it’s good to keep up with your budget.
3. Rent a boat
There are many ways to see Amsterdam; having a trip on a boat is a different perspective of the city through the canals. We chose ‘Boats4rent’, that this give us the opportunity and adventure to self-drive the electric boat for 2 hours. (It was very busy day for them that’s why we took it only for 2 hours and for us it was decided on the day to go) I advise you to pre book the boat to have a reservation. 🙂
The experience as it was my boyfriend and me, it felt romantic and fun. You pass through the huge and narrow canals through the centre of the city. The feeling was very cheerful. As the control is in your hand, one has always has to be responsible for the trip like you are driving a car or cycling a bike. I will definitely suggested to others because it is fun and memorable. Always be safe 😉
2. Artis Zoo
Woooww!!! There are many animals to see. There are different kinds of animals such as insects, birds, lions and giraffes. It’s not just a place to see the animals in the zoo but it’s a relaxing place to sit down and enjoy the nature. There is also an aquarium that it is massive and one has to stop and adore the different kind of fish.
When we were passing by the penguins, we just loved them. A penguin was flattering with us; as we started taking picture of him and than saw us moving to other penguins to take other photos he starting walking towards us (behind the fence obviously). <3
I have to mention the crocodiles. It was my first time that I went to a zoo and saw a crocodile. I was impressed. I think, that we were also lucky by seeing them moving the water.
1. Heineken Experience
Love drinking beer? Want to know more how it started and how it is made? Heineken experience, a museum, that is an amazing experience where to find out more about Heineken. A tip to go – Buy the tickets pre-paid, as we did not have to wait at the queue.
At the museum – The ingredients of Heineken and how it is made. It had interactivity that makes it interesting: such as games. Ending up on the rooftop with a glass of Heineken where there we made friends with the team. They are cheerful with a nice atmosphere. ‘Proost’ – ‘Cheers’ in Dutch.
A must go to the experience and as they say “Heineken always taste better in Holland!” hehe
I would love if you comment below and tell me, if you have been to Amsterdam and what have you done?! Let me know by leaving a comment below.
Amsterdam is one of the best cities in Europe, Yanika! This recommendations are amazing!
I can’t imagine Heineken tasting good anywhere. I live in Prague and absolutely hate it when they serve it on tap. Why?!!!
That said, Rijk’s Museum(sp) is my favorite. So many classics stocked up in one quick and easy spot.
Hey, Thank you for your comment! I love Heineken. Draft beer always taste different from bottle, Unfortunately!!
Good to know about Rijk’s Museum is your favourite. We just passed next to it. It was a very nice area though. 🙂
